Inspired by the work of Mary Vernon (Dallas) and Chuta Kimura (Japan), Billie Bourgeois will lead artists in a space-making abstract painting adventure.  Using drawing, printmaking, stenciling and collage, students will create spatial relationships by engaging scale change, overlapping, a horizon line and grids.   Join us for a playful and fun experience!  Learn to manipulate space to create depth, dimension and interest.  Let's learn from the masters of abstraction and impressionism!

Billie Bourgeois is a supremely talented artist who’s been teaching art for the past 50 years!   She’s gifted, generous, knowledgeable, fun, and can bring out the best in a newbie painter or the most seasoned! 

Supply List

5-7 sheets 22”x30”, 140lb watercolor paper cold press (if you are a fast worker you may need 2

more sheets)

Acrylic Paints (3 reds, 3 yellows, 3 blues, titanium white, black or raw umber

Any drawing tools you already have… pencils, oil sticks, chalk, markers, etc.

Acrylic mat medium

Acrylic gel medium

Palette (Masterson, flat covered plastic container, or plastic coated paper plates)

1 roll freezer paper

1 sheet plexiglass (size doesn’t matter)

1 pack WET ERASE markers (I use Vis-a-vis)

1-2 permanent markers like Sharpie

1 long ruler or straight edge

1 Xacto knife and extra blades

Cutting pad

Old credit cards (2-3) or scrapers

5 Manila folders

1 pack large basket style coffee filters

Optional: unstretched canvas any sizes,

Elephant size watercolor paper

300 lb watercolor paper is also a choice.
