Course Overview

Immerse yourself in four days of vibrant creativity guided by seasoned instructor Vicki Lee. Progressing from fundamental techniques to advanced mixed-media enhancements. Embark on an artistic journey designed for both newcomers to gel printing and those eager to refine their skills.

Workshop Projects

Throughout this immersive course, participants will complete at least three full projects, each highlighting the expressive possibilities of Gelli printing. The projects include creating small panels with resin, one larger panel with resin, and collage totems in varying sizes. Participants will learn to build layers, experiment with pattern and texture, and bring their own unique flair to each piece.

Techniques and Materials

The workshop includes hands-on instruction in using resin to transform Gelli prints into luminous, gallery-worthy artworks. By applying a glossy resin layer, participants will discover how to add depth, vibrancy, and a professional finish to their paintings. The course will cover different types of acrylic paint and various paper types suitable for Gelli printing. The use of stencils, magazine images, and mark-making tools will also be featured, offering a wide range of creative possibilities.

Prior students of my courses will expand their knowledge of layering and add their own unique style using hand cut stencils from found objects and recycling materials. We will work on creating functional art on objects such as wooden cutting boards and acrylic blocks which will provide fun and unique gift ideas. We will also discuss ways to create scarves and other useful items on fabric using prints designed in the workshop.
