This workshop is a vibrant exploration of freedom in painting — an invitation to question habits, break patterns, and rediscover joy in the creative process. Guided by internationally acclaimed artist Manuela Karin Knaut, participants will dive into a world of experimentation where intuition, movement, and spontaneity lead the way.

Through a series of hands-on exercises and intuitive painting sessions, we will challenge established routines, explore new materials and techniques, and embrace coincidence as a source of inspiration. Participants are encouraged to leave behind the need for control and allow the work itself to unfold organically.

Focus areas:

• Breaking old patterns and opening up new creative directions

• Expressive mark-making and intuitive composition

• Layering, texture, and the dialogue between control and freedom

• Mixing painting, drawing, and experimental printmaking methods

• Working on paper, canvas, and found materials

• Exploring materials such as acrylics, pigments, ink, and oil pastels

This workshop is ideal for artists seeking fresh impulses — whether to enrich a long-standing practice or to reconnect with playful, fearless creation. The atmosphere will be one of curiosity and exchange, with individual feedback supporting each participant’s own artistic voice.

Level: Open to all who wish to expand their visual vocabulary and dive into a more liberated painting process.
