Learn to paint urban landscape with mood, atmosphere, and strong composition in water-mixable oils. This 3-day workshop focuses on representational oil painting without brushes or toxic solvents, and creating a specific tone through value, texture, and negative space.
Students investigate the tonal, near-monochromatic palette, and experiment with unconventional mark making tools, such as printmaking brayers and squeegees, in additive and reductive painting methods.
Experience in oil painting is not required but useful. Observational drawing skills (understanding of relative proportion, perspective, chiaroscuro, etc.) are required.
