NANCY HIRSCH LASSEN

BIOGRAPHY

Nancy Hirsch Lassen is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.She discovered her passion for art early on, and pursued a career in Art and Interior Design. She received her BA degree from Newcomb College of Tulane University in 1975. She spent her junior year in Madrid studying art history in the Prado. After Newcomb, Nancy remained in New Orleans where she started her design firm, Interiors & Extras, now in its 37th year. Nancy studied many years with Nell Tilton, Steve Aimone, Krista Harris, and others.

 

Nancy is now the co-owner of PaintSpace NOLA, a workshop teaching space and studio in New Orleans. 

 

In New Orleans she has shown at The Sullivan Gallery, Degas Gallery, The New Orleans Academy of Fine Art, (where she was the first abstract artist ever to receive the Director’s Award from Auseklis Ozols), Haven Design Studio, and Legend Interiors.

 

In Birmingham, she has shown with The Kessler Collection at the Grand Bohemian Hotel and Design Supply. In Taos, NM, she shows at Taos Blue, and in High Point, NC, The John Richards Collection.

 

She is also in many public and private collections in NYC, Nashville, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, and abroad. Forty-eight original pieces were commissioned and installed in the University Medical Center in New Orleans. She has been one twenty finalists in the Bombay Sapphire New Orleans Show three times. She has commissioned works in the Federal Reserve Bank of New Orleans, and Sloan Kettering Hospital in NYC. Her small works have been sold in the New Orleans Museum of Art retail shop. Her work has been featured on the cover of Inside New Orleans Magazine. 

 

Nancy always looks forward to and welcomes exciting and inspiring new projects and commissions.
