Driving

As far as getting around the city, we encourage you to Uber / Lyft / Taxi. New Orleans is confusing with many detours and improvements in process.

 

Restaurants and Shopping

 

Stroll down Magazine Street for endless options for unique shops, galleries, and all sorts of delicious

cuisine.  There are many food options within walking distance of the studio.  Here are some of our personal favorites within 4-5 blocks of the studio.

 

  • Gracious Bakery | Coffee shop with delicious chicken salad, great pastries and good coffee

  • St. James Cheese Shop |Good lunch spot

  • Parran's Po-Boys | Local favorite

  • Zara's Grocery | Hot breakfasts and lunches, great poboys, rotisserie chickens and terrific for bring-your-own-lunch supplies, fixings for dinner at home, and the best chicken salad in the city!

  • Guy's |  Local favorite, and Guy himself will cook for and serve you while discussing his art on the walls

 

Local Attractions

  • New Orleans Museum of  Art

  • Sculpture Garden at NOMA (and adjacent City Park) 

  • WWII Museum

  • The French Quarter | Rich with history and culture, a wonderful introduction

  • to the Crescent City

  • Ogden Museum of Southern Art

  • Magazine and Julia Streets | Most of the city’s galleries are on Magazine Street or Julia Street.   Magazine has more emerging artists, and Julia has more high end galleries.

  • Audubon Park| Beautiful and a great place for walks, if you’d like to get out a bit and stretch, a streetcar ride away

  • Swamp Tours

  • Garden District Home Tours

 

Music

  • Preservation Hall in the French Quarter

  • Frenchmen Street | You can check for who’s playing where, or just cruise up and down Frenchmen and go in and out of the different venues.
